A lot of people take home for granted, but when you're contemplating a move for whatever reason -- relocating for work, desire for a new location, financial considerations, for more or less space -- you'll probably think a little more deeply about home and the feeling it gives us knowing we have one.
For most Americans the dream for many years has been owning one's own house. Home ownership has been a given for most Americans until the last two years when a significant number of people who bought homes lost them for reasons that I won't go into. What's important to note here is that all indicators point to the fact that the American Dream of home ownership was not a realistic one for many. For now, renting makes more sense, and is more attractive than ever.
In my next post I will list some of the advantages of renting. If you are moving to an apartment, I invite you to consider the advantages and note the really good things about apartment living that you appreciate.
In future posts I will also talk about how to deal with issues that come up as a renter, and compare them with homeowner issues.
Remember: There is no place like home!
